Recycled Content Certification
Florim is a company associated with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the largest American association of industries beloning to the construction sector, together to promote types of design and constructions leading to a signficant reduction or elimination of the negative impact of buildings on the environment in relation to five main sectors:
- designing in sustainable constructive areas
- protection of the water resources
- energy efficiency and use of renewable sources
- stacking, composition and origin of constructive materials and raw materials
- quality of life in indoor premises
The obtainable results realising projects in accordance with the sustainability Standard promoted by USGBC can be many: within the environment (waste reduction, preservation of resources, etc.), economical (management costs reduction, increase in premises value, etc.) and social (healthier environments, quality of life, etc.).
To allow a concrete quantification and a correct monitoring of the degree of sustainability reached by a project, appreciating the advantages in this way acquired, USGBC has developed a certification for the development of sustainable buildings defined LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System.
The LEED certification envisions the assigment of an increasing score, obtained evaluating different features of a project, within specific categories.
Only completed buildings can be LEED certified and the use of Florim products allows acquiring points in the Constructive materials and raw materials category, with different shares, established according to the amount of pre-consumer recycled material contained (meaning, one of the criteria on the basis of which the products belonging to the category in question are evaluated).
Following the icreasing interest in Italy on this subject, Florim considered it necessary to become partner of Green Building Council Italia (GBC Italia) also, national association recognised by USGBC, promoter of the LEED Italia certification, that will be introduced in our market to guarantee the environmental, social and economical sustainability of the buildings, from the designing phase to the daily management.
